IT majors hire early for 2012 passouts
Not withstanding the political turmoil in the state, several IT majors have advanced their campus recruitment drives by six months this year. Normally, the firms have been conducting recruitment drives during December/January.
Th decision follows the relaxation given by the National Association of Software and Services Companies.
The firms have asked various engineering colleges to arrange for the conduct of campus interviews and to prepare their students to face the same.
About 25,000 students from AP are expected to be recruited in the process, out of the 1 lakh jobs that are on offer nationally for the year.
Earlier, the interviews used to be conducted during the third year of B.Tech course. However, following complaints of students selected in job interviews being indifferent to studies later on, Nasscom had tightened norms from last year.
The IT firms were asked to recruit students after the completion of the first exams of the final year.
The relaxation came about after the IT firms urged Nasscom to advance the recruitment by at least six months so that there would be ample time for them to find ‘quality’ students.
in such a short time.
Following this, the Nasscom has allowed the IT firms to conduct campus interviews at the start of the commencement of final year without waiting for the first semester exams.
Officials said the IT firms will conduct campus interviews in phases and they will cover 50 colleges at a time in each phase.
